http://www.timesreporter.com/left.php?ID=49717&r=0Ohio Republicans are saying Party Chairman Robert T. Bennett, known for expecting and enforcing high ethical standards, will ask Ney not to run for re-election if he is indicted.

Timing is a problem. Feb. 16 is the deadline for candidates to register for the May primary. If Ney is the party’s only candidate after that date and then is forced out of the race, Republicans are stuck without a candidate, unless it is a write-in.
That could open the door for a Democrat in an election year when Democrats already are expected to make significant gains in both Congress and Ohio.

Should anyone express an interest in Ney’s seat or run against him, it would be “digging your own political grave” because Ney is considered “ruthless” and “vindictive,” several Republicans said.

Republicans are looking at State Sens. Jay Hottinger of Newark, and Joy Padgett of Coshocton. Ruthless and vindictive are two adjectives that describe Ney perfectly. I've seen him at work attacking and belittling any one who questions his authority. He fits in perfectly with Bush, Cheney and DeLay.
