Dogpatch Surveys OH Reps on W's Illegal Wiretapping
1/17/06

The paper asked the Ohio Congressional delegation:

“Did President Bush overstep his authority by establishing the National Security Agency eavesdropping program, was there enough consultation with congressional oversight committees and is the program one that is needed and can be conducted without endangering civil liberties?

Do you agree with Bush’s contention that the New York Times story and release of the information about the program relied on unauthorized disclosure of classified information that ‘damages our national security and puts our citizens at risk?’”

Here are the responses

1. 14 republican responses: 6 democratic. I realize it was to the
elected officials so its not a balanced Q and A.
but there are 7 republican responses before you even get to your first democratic one. They could have peppered the dem responses throughout.

on the funny side: note the SAMENESS to all the republican responses. I'm beginning to think its all a hive mind and Rove is the Queen.

4. ah, thanks...still, I would argue for NOT doing that.
It would have been better to alternate than to follow numerical order.

3. R's were using the same set of flawed talking points
I guess they forgot to mention the problems Congress had with Bush's decisions, just ask Jay Rockefeller

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/docs/rock-cheney1.html

The media needs to have a full and open discussion of Rockefeller's objections before the pass off this line of reasoning to the public.

Ohio Dems made excellent points.
