stop probably the most dangerous election ploy to Ohio's future... |
|
From the ODP today:
STOP KEN BLACKWELL'S RECKLESS GIMMICK Protect Ohio's Future from Election Year Games Ken Blackwell last summer put off until the Fall of 2006 a provision called a TEL that would cripple not just state, but local governments whose primary funding of Police, Fire and Safety funding would be in peril. It is nothing more than an election year gimmick. .... HELP STOP KEN BLACKWELL'S RECKLESS RACE TO THE BOTTOM. PROTECT OHIO'S FUTURE. ....
Over 500,000 signatures were filed but with an error rate of 36% the group barely made the cut off with only 1,107 to spare. Therefore, we believe an opportunity exists to mount a successful challenge.

I don't think Democrats (as Democrats) should be too vocal before May.
Petro & Montgomery (and their supporters) are going to be trashing Blackwell's plan. After the Primary (no matter who the R nominee is), Republicans' own words can be used to attack the plan.
I certainly can be wrong (happens all the time), but I think this might boomerang on Blackwell. With the proper publicity, I think Ohioans will view it as "extreme." If Blackwell is the nominee, we should be able to paint him and his plan with the same "extremist" brush.
If Petro or Montgomery is the R nominee, you'll have both nominees attacking Blackwell's plan.

4. This may even be worse than the effect of term limits |

You are so sensible! But...
Need to be watchful.
I think we agree that Blackwell is a certifiable nut case, but his pandering knows no end.
