Kinda serious re: Fingerhut |
|
Anyone here from south or west of Akron heard about (or planning to be doing any) work for Eric Fingerhut's senate campaign? I'm not rounding up volunteers or anything, I'm just curious for any anecdotal evidence to gauge how well people from outside Cuyahoga know him. I'd very much like to see Voinovich shown the door this year.

1. About 2 weeks ago Kerry was in CIncinnati |

Fingerhut spoke before him, so anybody that was there knows the name. He told the crowd to repeat his name many times, I guess to encourage name recognition. Fingerhut has been in the Ohio legislature for a while, but thats the first i've heard of him.

I kind of get the feeling that's always the way it is for northern dems. We pretty much rule Cleveland, but can't get the rest of the state.

3. Dems dominate the North, Repugs hold the South |
|
With one major city in Northern Ohio, and two in the South, the math doesn't exactly work out in our favor. Columbus is slowly shifting Democratic, but the surrounding metro area is still very Republican. As for Cincinnati, it may be the political opposite of Cleveland.
That, and with the state-level Democratic Party still in shambles, Fingerhut has a much more difficult battle ahead than what he should have, versus a mediocre Republican like Voinovich.

5. Do you think getting bumperstickers to DUers would give Eric publicity? |
|
Since he seems to have scant name recognition.

I can easily tag my car with a bumper sticker. I do know about Fingerhut, but then, I'm a political junkie. Are you working with his campaign? Can I help in any way?

9. I'll mail Fingerhut bumperstickers to anyone who will use them |
|
I am not in his campaign. His campaign office is 10 or 15 minutes from where I work, so I would be glad to get bumperstickers for anyone and mail them.
Just ask and I will mail them. Just assure me that you will use them.
What else can we do for him? He has a meetup going 5/12 at 8pm. He could probably use help at appearances.
I have met Eric Fingerhut. He is incredibly bright and qualified for the position he seeks. He is great on the issues of the left. Instead of him, we get Mr-transparent-First-Energy-electricity-sellout-Voinovich.

I do know about Fingerhut, but I try to follow politics closely and I lived in Akron for three years.
I talked to a volunteer of his a few days ago and they are having a really tough time getting supplies. I offered to put on a bumpersticker, but they don't have any. Also, only one person showed up at the Columbus Fingerhut Meetup. Safe to say that things are stalling a bit around here.
