Voters in Montgomery County |
|
So far, the BoE has received 10,000 voter applications, based on what I heard this afternoon at Dem HQ. Now how that breaks down, I don't know (change of address, other situations, etc.), but someone said that the office is working 11-hour days processing them all.
And someone else who has worked on phone banks says that she has run across some people who say that they aren't registered to vote, and then they are told that uh, yes they are, because they're being called.
Based on Thursday night, and this news about new registrations, I think Kerry is going to take Montgomery County. I am VERY optimistic.

I just took some voter regs to the court house yesterday. The board of elections is swamped with applications and running behind on processing them. When I asked for 25 more applications, the lady said she would certainly give them to me, but she just wanted to cry. They have had so many. The problem is that some are duplicates. They have to enter them; cross id them; then delete the entry. It is very time consuming. If in doubt, they would prefer that the voter call them.
Absentee ballots are also a huge problem. The ballots were held up until the ruling on Nader and the vile Issue 1. Envelopes are ready to be stuffed once the ballots come back from the printer. It's going to be a rough election for all counties.
