DAYTON DUers: Times, date for Kerry film on WKEF-WRGT

I just got off the phone with WKEF. It will be airing the Kerry film from 7-8 p.m. on WKEF, and from 11 p.m. to midnight on WRGT on OCT. 20.

The person I talked to says Sinclair has given them no options here, so a viewing as well as advertising boycott could be effective. Especially with WKEF's poor track record, ratings and otherwise.

You can call WKEF and complain, but they are referring people to the Sinclair Commment Line at 410-568-1780.

So...don't watch either channel that night, and be sure to let them know why you're not watching!

2. I'm going to compile a list of advertisers

on WKEF and WRGT as well as the advertisers on WTTE in Columbus and email or call them and let them know that I will not be patronizing their businesses as long as they continue to advertise on these stations.

3. I'm going to also drop a line to ABC

According to a message on LBN, Sinclair has dictated that this show air during prime time. The 20th is a Tuesday, and Channel 22 says it will air the show from 7-8 -- not a "prime time" hour. (Same with 11-midnight on 45.) But this is what the woman at 22 told me.

I don't know how kindly networks would take to affiliates pre-empting their programming, no matter what side of the political fence they are on. They lose money when local stations do this, I think.

I told the comment line that asking Kerry to appear would be like asking him to come to his own lynching. I don't watch 22 or 45 much anyway -- won't be watching either at all now.
