I think it may be some kind of sinister plot to keep Democrats from voting.

It's damage-control to distract everyone from his actions of the past few weeks. When he gets taken to task for his unAmerican antics (wrong paper on the registrations, no provisional ballots, etc...) he can point to his half-assed commercials to make the forgetful among us believe that he's been a champion for GOTV all along. It's a fucking lie, and anyone who has been paying attention knows that. Sadly, people have short, selective memories.
