Need something to make you smile? Attn: Dayton DUers
Drive north on Far Hills, just past Patterson, before you get to the turn heading down to the Five Points intersection. Look to your right. In the mass of greenery is a lifesize cutout of John Kerry, complete with sprinkler -- like a little fountain. The display is lighted at night, too.

It's cool.

1. Is this close to Dayton?
I have only been their once for an interview at U of Dayton. Hopefully this is a good sign. No pun intended.

2. Actually, yes
This stretch of Far Hills is very close to the Dayton/Oakwood line. UD is a stone's throw away.

It's a very clever sign. We were driving home last night and I just happened to catch it out of the corner of my eye. It was just put up. I drive past there almost everyday and had not noticed it before. There is A LOT of Kerry support in Oakwood.

3. Thank you!
I love that they have a street named after Erma Bombeck. Or is that Toledo?

4. Part of Brown Street
is Erma Bombeck Way. It's kind of an honorary designation, but the street name for "legal" purposes is still Brown St. Riverside Drive, I believe, is "Mike Schmidt Way," as another example.

5. Wow
The city that disgusted me so much that I refused to go back might actually be becoming enlightened.

(I grew up in Centerville.)

7. That's my thread.
We stopped last night and took some pics, AOD -- the poor woman who lives in the house where they set it up has had to set up a surveillance camera to keep people from vandalizing it. I hope she was reassured when we shouted down to her that we were on her side, and just wanted a picture!
