|
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 08:41 AM by coalminersdaughter
Are you ready for some action? Here is a way to make a difference. Drop me a PM if you want to attend. I'll forward it to the committee.
SPANOhio, the Single-Payer Action Network of Ohio, will hold the first local meeting in Coshocton on Thursday, November 11, 2004 in room 145 of The Coshocton County Services Building, 724 S. 7th. St. The meeting will begin at 7pm. The Agenda will include an overview of SPAN and the Healthcare for All Ohioans Act, forming a local chapter, the petition process, educational outreach and current news and information concerning single-payer, universal healthcare for all Ohio residents and workers. You are invited to bring a friend or two, or four!, or tell any interested persons. Please RSVP if possible so that we can have an adequate number of information packets available for all in attendance. SPANOhio is a non-partisan, non-profit group open to all. Hope to see you there.

It's good to see someone else here, but I am probably Coshocton's lone Muslim.

And you probably are the lone Muslim in that city! Welcome to DU, Azadre! You will find that we're a good group of people who love and bicker like any other family. Are you interested in the SPANOhio meeting? I'll be glad to add another to the list. You don't have to give me your name, just let me know you are coming. I'll forward an anonymous RSVP for you.

Why don't you come along and we'll both ask questions. Two heads are always better than one.

I'm interested in hearing an update following the meeting.
I learned of SPAN Ohio from the table at the AFL-CIO Labor Day event at Coney Island. After I got home, I read through the petition language.
It's a completely unworkable, budget-busting, economically-devastating proposal. I would move a few miles south into northern Kentucky the second such a system passed in Ohio, along with, I suspect, most of the businesses in southern Ohio.
I, along with most Americans and moderate Democrats, don't want a government-run health care system. Kerry certainly wasn't proposing one. This is--deservedly--a very unpopular idea. If we want to guarantee a Republican majority for the next few decades, then, by all means, let's push for a single-payer health plan.
