90% of Stark Co. Provisionals OK
According to the Canton Repository

http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?ID=193617&Category=9

If 6,032 were still good, and the BOE says 6,653 were originally cast, the rejection rate is less than 10%. Stark was the only county in Ohio that flipped to Kerry in 04 that went bush* in 00.

I find it hard to believe that if the woman in this article gave the poll workers her address, that they wouldn't say "Next table, ma'am"

1. Can't open link (not registered), but..
...what else does it say? That is amazing that all those ballots were fine. And we were told 90% of them would be tossed. What is the matter with all these talking heads? This damn media is making me nuts the way they REFUSE to report this (except for KO, of course).

2. 505 ballots cast in wrong precinct
From article:

Her vote was one of 505 provisional ballots rejected by the four-member Stark County Board of Elections because the vote was cast at the wrong precinct.

Gross may have been at the right polling place, but she went to the wrong precinct table. The Knights of Columbus had three precincts in the hall. Gross was supposed to vote in precinct 3D, but she voted in precinct 3C. The provisional ballot of her son, David Gross, also didn’t count because he was at the wrong precinct.

The Nov. 2 election saw 6,032 provisional ballots cast in Stark County, more than double the amount four years ago.

The board rejected another 59 provisional ballots of voters who did not sign either the affirmation statement or the envelope.

**************

This was written by a staff writer. No AP byline. I had gone to the BOE Friday afternoon. The woman I spoke with wasn't part of "registration" so she didn't know the figures on the Provisionals. I did get a breakdown of absentee ballots by precinct, for both 00 and 04. Also got a breakdown of voting booths per precinct. Haven't finished checking all precincts yet, but the 30 or so I've checked show more booths per voters in puke precincts. Nowhere near as bad as Franklin Co. or Cuyahoga Co. but the trend is there so far.

3. Handy URL
http://www.bugmenot.com/

Type in (or cut/paste) the home page address. In this case, it would be:

http://www.cantonrep.com

If it's in their database, it'll reply with a login ID and password.

4. Me too.
I can't believe the poll worker didn't have a precinct map or printout with the addresses that that particular table covered.
