Lawsuit filed in Perry Co. auditor race
NEW LEXINGTON -- The Perry County auditor has filed a lawsuit against the elections office, crying foul in the Nov. 2 election.

Bill Crane said his Columbus attorney, Michael Kolman, filed the lawsuit against the Perry County Board of Elections after allegedly discovering a host of voting irregularities.

Crane, a Democrat, lost to Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder by 277 votes.

Kolman checked voting records and alleges the number of voters exceeded the number of people who signed the books in at least 11 of 46 precincts. Ohio election law requires all precincts to maintain a book that voters must sign before casting a ballot.

1. Good luck to him.
The courts in Ohio are solidly Republican so they will rule that votes don't have to be counted for an election to be determined.

3. Householder
Edited on Sat Dec-18-04 06:05 PM by shirlden
is the biggest Repig crook in the state. Put nothing past him.
I lived in Perry County, owned a home there for several years. It is a poor county, but full of good people. They have had some bad experiences with Householder and I very much doubt that they voted him back into any office.
The recount people in Ohio have also mentioned numerous problems there with more votes than people voting.
We have not heard the last from this county.
However, Perry is the type of county where a shot of "moonshine", (yes, the do have stills in them thar hills)could buy a few truck loads of votes.

:bounce:

4. The news showed Perry County going to Kerry and Crane
at 11:00 then the next day it was Bush and Householder.

Very strange. I hope that they recount all the presidential votes too.

Householder used to be the biggest crook in the state. I think that distinction has to go to Blackwell now.

Householder spent more than 1 million dollars in his campaign for country auditor - Crane spent $3,000. Why would anyone spend that kind of money on a county auditor race if they didn't plan on raiding the treasury.

BTW - I live down in Crooksville. It is a great town, where taxes are low but the town really does well with what it gets. We have a 24hr police force, good volunteer fire and paramedic, several nice parks, good street maint, etc. We had a rec center but it closed mostly because of lack of business.
