DeWine in 2000 beat Ted Celeste 61-36. In 2004 Fingerhut did similarly against Voinovich (64-36) against a popular candidate. I think we have a chance if we put Fingerhut or Strickland up to run. Fingerhut had his name on the ballot last time and would do well, Strickland has a good shot as well with him being a former minister, it may help to dilude DeWine's base a bit and his stranglehold in the rural Southeast. Springer should not be even considered. Kucinich shouldn't run either, I think his policy works outside of the Clevland area. The fact that the state party made him Democrat of the year is regretable.
My theory, send Fingerhut against DeWine and Strickland against Blackwater (or whom ever the GOP puts up for governor.

8. Believe it or not, Eric has momentum. |

He lost the race largely, because Dem's across the state overwhelming voted for Voinovich.
It makes me want to throw up thinking about the Dem turncoats.
Voinovich was Cleveland mayor and Ohio Gov., Dewine doesn't have that history, and I believe makes his seat more winnable.

9. Dewine has slept in the Senate for 12 years and has nothing to show for it |
|
To his credit did vote against drilling in the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge, though. Western lands preservation issues actually play well in Ohio. Our congress members don't risk a "sagebrush rebellion" vote like those in Colorado or Arizona.
