Taft does not have right to refuse to testify
"According to The Columbus Disptach (subscription required) Governor Taft has refused to testify, and he has prohibited five other current and former members of his administration from testifying, in a Coingate lawsuit filed by State Sen. Marc Dann. Taft has cited “executive privilege” as the reason for refusing to testify. According to Sen. Dann, “executive privilege” is a concept foreign to Ohio law, and Taft has no legal right to refuse to testify. I did a little bit of legal research myself, and I was also unable to find a single Ohio case applying the concept of executive privilege."

4. Is anyone else concerned
about how the R's are in control of the investigation into their own elected officials corruption?

Shouldn't we have a special prosecutor overseeing all these investigations instead of a bunch of small time county prosecutors and judges who are vulnerable to pressure and have small budgets?

Shouldn't we be concerned over the possibility of losses of evidence and screwed up investigations?

smells blood in the water, it should stay forefront.

And for those of you who want Taft gone, we need to keep that asshat in there...who do you want a Dem to run against....a corrupt Taft (and the implications all the Repubs are corrupt) or someone like the Lt. Governor, untainted, or WORSE, the Repubs bypass her and appoint Blackwell or someone like him.

As much as we want him to resign, he needs to stay right where he is with his crappy 17% approval rating and the smell of corruption HANGING on his ass through 2006.

6. Taft can't run again, but is a good albatross for the others
so keeping him around is a good thing. he'll be even less effective than a lame duck.

Anyone else think the blackeye from Coingate had something to do with an additional 2 Ohio military bases being slated for closure?
