Jennifer Brunner for SOS
Jennifer Brunner has officially announced that she is a candidate for Secretary of State. www.jenniferbrunner.com You can sign up for newsletters, volunteer or contribute. I heard her speak a few months ago. She is pretty no nonsense and left a very good impression.

1. Brunner has lost my vote!
from the Toledo Blade:(Article published Friday, September 2, 2005)

"Ms. Brunner said yesterday she opposes a proposed constitutional amendment slated for the Nov. 8 election that would strip the office she hopes to hold of its election oversight authority.

She also opposes a proposal to roll back campaign contribution limits."

I'll never support a candidate for SoS who opposes the RON (Reform Ohio Now) amendments.

2. I read her positions on her website.
She strongly supports 2 of the 4 Reform Ohio Now amendments. She does oppose the amendment to roll back campaign contributions because the amendment places it in the constitution instead of Ohio Revised Code. She also opposes the non-partisan board being appointed to appoint someone to oversee elections, saying that she would rather have an elected official over see elections rather than an appointee of an appointed board. Her positions do make sense, even tho I will probably vote for all four of the amendments, I respect her insight. Read here: http://www.jenniferbrunner.com/platform_reform-ohio-now.asp

3. I'm on the fence
because of a conversation with her a few months ago. I'm not convinced that she understands the abuses that can happen when computerized voting machines and/or scanners are used. She indicated that a receipt would be acceptable (at that time, remember it was a few months ago). I would like to know that she "gets it" when it comes to the issues surrounding voting machines, especially here in Diebold country.
