I posted this earlier in GD http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4968202&mesg_id=4968202

I know it's early, but I think this is sign we should strike while the iron is hot. Also, Strickland is nearly tied with Blackwell in the Gov. race http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/info-flash05a.html?project=elections06-ft&h=495&w=778&hasAd=1&mod=blogs

2. Question?
Is it just my voting precinct, or, does anyone else here in Ohio vote by filling in a bubble with a pencil? I have been voting since I turned 18 in February 2003 and have used nothing other than a paper ballot.

Are these machines used only in larger, metropolitan areas (I'm in rural Erie County)?

3. The machines in question are down in south and central Ohio
I believe they are mandated to be in place by the 2006 elelction...

But in Cuyahoga, we use puncards....

4. About 5 Ohio counties use electronic voting machines
About a dozen counties use optical-scan paper ballots. The other seventy or so counties use the traditional "lever" machines (Shoup) that tally votes on counting wheels.
