The Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party says he might resign before his term ends in June.

The disclosure by Dennis White comes at a time when the Democrats could have their best opportunity in 16 years to wrest control of the state government from the Republicans.

"I've not made a decision," White, 51, said Tuesday. He said he plans to confer with the party's two candidates for governor, Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman and U.S. Rep. Ted Strickland of Lisbon, about whether he should continue as chairman...

If White resigns, former U.S. Rep. Dennis Eckart of Cleveland and Montgomery County Democratic Chairman Dennis Lieberman are expected to seek the post...

2. I vaguely remember Eckart as a congressman
Of late he has been more visible as an activist, but I still don't know much about him. What is he about?

3. He is so far up the ass of corporate Cleveland...
He was in charge of the Cleveland Growth Association, the Chamber of Commerce for Cleveland...

That could be good....

But Lieberman is the real deal....

I know both men....

DE would be good for money, DL would be good for activism...

4. He backstabbed an activist organization who helped get him elected
...by not voting with them after he got in office. I really, really should not name what that vote was about so it does not come back and bite me.

6. Agree, Eckardt is the last thing we need
As the corporate rats leave the sinking Republican ship, they're trying to install a leader of their own to run the Dem party.

No thanks. Another leader who will let the party rot and die.

5. It's time
I like Denny White on a personal level, and he's been solid at raising money, but it's time. Actually, it's past time. The decent thing would have been to resign after the loss in Nov. Instead, he fired ODP's Communications Director, and stayed. (It reminded me of something a Republican would do-- the buck stopped way before the top.)

I wonder if he'll resign at his $1,000 a plate chairman's lunch at the end of the month?

7. He was a poor choice to begin with
He's so pathetic, I feel sorry for him every time I see him give a speech.
