2. Funny, I didn't see any discussion
at all about the father of the Columbine victim who was turned away to the cheers and jeers of many conventioneers, he was trying to express his support for the continuation of the assault weapons ban. Guess they don't want to come face-to-face with the results of their zealous gun craziness.

3. Just look at this fine specimen!

Hey badray! Why don't you grab that gun of yours and head on over to Iraq? I'm sure they could use your help! It sure wouldn't hurt that physique of yours either - just think of it as fat camp for gun nuts! Oh, come on, what's that matter with you, chicken?

Why don't you prove how that gun of yours can help save lives by doing something useful with it?

On edit: Check out our man badray!:

It was a good show, politics aside. Lots of beautiful guns and lots and lots of beautiful women.

I hope to have a picture in a few days that someone took of me getting a lap dance right outside the Convention Center from a few of the local 'dancers'.

So that's it! He plays with his gun so he can get lap dances with strippers! I mean, it's not like that sort of thing just happens to ANY GUY with a few dollars to spend!

Oh badray - you stud, you!

4. Not to defend a freeper
But when one says "we are not Bush/Cheney shills" we should listen. There are defenders of the Second Amendment who could easily vote for a democrat with reasonable views on guns.

7. What's reasonable?
Edited on Thu Apr-22-04 11:06 AM by BJ
Why not frame the conversation thusly:

The states of Texas and Missouri both recently passed legislation making it legal for citizens to carry concealed weapons. This is clearly a symptom that civil authority has broken down in these two states; there is inadequate funding for law enforcement; these states have failed in providing the necessary social programs and incentives to industry to elevate poverty that leads to lawlessness; the tax structures of both these states have resulted in the break down of the rule of law.

Does giving citizens license to carry concealed firearms fulfill the Second Amendment requirement of "A well regulated militia..."?

8. Well
You kind of offer two points. As to what's reasonable, that's going to be a matter of opinion (thus the problem, huh?). An assurance from democrats that they recognize the right of people to bear arms would be a start. Dean managed it.

As for your example, it's kind of circular. If law and order has indeed broken down, isn't that an argument for conceled carry?

9. No.

Because in a civilized society a rational political system would never allow such deterioration without the impetus of an externally imposed systemic collapse, such as a foreign invasion, natural disaster, etc. In other words, the collapse and resultant failure of the two states, Texas and Missouri, is the result of domestic state tax codes and approprations policy.

This is not rational behavior.

However, I do agree with Howard Dean's position that the question of gun control is one of "states' rights," not a federal issue.

10. So are you advocating a policeman for each citizen?
?

There is nothing wrong with concealed carry. It's more than Texas and Missouri too. In fact it is up to about 36 states now. Alaska and Vermont don't even require a permit; if you can legally own a handgun you can legally conceal it in those states. It's tough to make a gun crime arguement in those states too...I believe they have the lowest violent crime rates.

I am happy to see TX and Missouri join PA in recognizing citizens rights to bear arms.
