The Battleground States
I made a list towards the end of 2003, going through each state and trying to predict where it would fall. It was tough to do, but I managed to identify 15 battleground states. Unfortunately, I forget them. So, voice off: which states do you think might swing either way?

Pennsylvania, we know.
Ohio
Michigan
Minnesota
New Mexico
Arizona
New Hampshire
Florida
Wisconsin

ok my mind's blanking on the others I had. What other states? Or do you disagree with any of mine and think they're definitely going one way or the other?

4. Here's what TIME has to say:

A popular Southern VP would put Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennesee, and West Virginia in play. Maybe even Virginia.

They keys to victory are PA, Ohio, and Florida: at least two of these.

5. Ah I forgot about
Louisiana. I think Kerry has a good chance there, and that state could make up for any smaller-state losses in the southwest or northern-midwest.

6. Michigan and Minnesota
Kerry has a 10 point lead in Mich and 12 in Minn.

Hopefully he has them in the bag.

7. That large of a lead?
Those were close states last election, but if they've moved left, that's very excellent. Those states were both won by gore, so keeping a hold of them is important.

8. DCPoliticalReport has them as solid Kerry.
What I'm really worried about is PA.

9. I'm worried too
but Kerry has my vote, and the majority of my school's vote. Not my town, but he'll get the youth vote.

10. I think PA will go Kerry
but it would be nice to see him doing better in the current polls there.

11. we're doing the best we can lol
And you must remember, polls don't generally include the youth vote, which has consistently voted liberally. We may vote less, but we can still influence elections.
