1. I'm in Berks Co...just got this email...
Please, if you're in Pennsylvania and especially Berks County...PLEASE call Gov. Rendell, and call any news outlet you can think of, especially nationally (Janeane Garofalo, Mike Malloy, Randi Rhodes).

I registered a ton of students at school, and I'm really worried now that they're registrations forms won't be processed! And make no mistake, the ONLY reason they are claiming "fraud" is because the forms are mostly Dem.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is absolutely unreasonable that out of 35,000 registration forms only 8,000 art legitimate. We need to call the Commissioners and attend the meeting. Also, letters to the editor challenging Mark Scott's integrity would be in order. Remember, Kurt Bellman is a Republican appointee. Let's see what we can do to rectify this.
~ Tom
Please try to attend the next Berks County Commissioners' Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 19th at 10:30am (I know it's a work day but if you can take early lunch or whatever). It is held on the 13th floor of the County Services Center building at 633 Court St., Reading. (Please pass on and bring as many people as you can.) This is very important-we must do all we can to make sure that ALL our votes are counted.
Commissioner Mark Scott and Elections Director Kurt Bellman have made allegations that several democrat groups have used fraudulent practices in their voter registration drives. Please check page 1 of Berks and Beyond section of today's Reading Eagle (Oct. 13) for the article "Scott: Voting forms need law-enforcement review" (online link below). Specific groups are named - the submitted registration forms from two of those groups, Voting Is Power and ACORN, are in question according to the paper. Eagle quote "All the applications from those groups are questionable and have been set aside, officials said." In a later paragraph "So far, the election office has processed about 35,000 applications. Officials said about 8,000 are legitimate." (only 8,000 out of 35,000?!).
Here is the story: http://www.readingeagle.com/re/news/1325875.asp
Also, you can watch a video clip of Mark Scott discussing possible voter registration fraud in Berks by clicking the "Ask the commissioner" link in the left panel of Reading Eagle "Home" page at www.readingeagle.com . (In a section that says "videos" -video clip is dated Oct. 4, 2004.)
Also, NOTE the story in today's paper on A-2:
"Analyst: State may face vote-counting challenge - A pollster says the potential exists for Pennsylvania to have ballot-tallying problems greater than those experienced in Florida in the 2000 presidential race." (Looks like we're already having problems...)
Give me a call or email me if you have any questions.
4. Much Ado About Nothing
Today's reading paper www.readingeagle.com
"Berks County officials said Tuesday that only about a dozen of the nearly 36,500 questionable voter-registration forms submitted to the county appear to be fraudulent.
They attributed the problems to people registering numerous times and providing inaccurate information on the forms.
“Despite this massive outcry that there is alleged fraud, there are only 12 to 15 that are questionable,” Democratic Commissioner Thomas W. Gajewski Sr. said during a 21/2-hour meeting."
