Michael J. Fox backing Specter...
how did I miss this? Unfortunately, I don't have a link - but a friend of mine just told me that Bush and Specter have a little stem cell research deal in the works ... but obviously Bush won't claim this until after the election. What do you think the fundies would do if they knew? The more I learn of Specter, the less I like him. I used to respect his moderate views ... but it's becoming clear that he blows with the wind and certainly does not have the integrity to be a higher up in the senate. Or maybe that lack of honesty and steadfastness is exactly what it takes to sky rocket one to the upper echelons in politics. The whole thing reeks and depresses the hell out of me.

I pretty much decided Specter was an asshole.

5. The positive point of that is ...
many republicans are voting for Kerry - but staying with Specter. I am disappointed by the blatant agendas of Specter and Fox.

The incumbent touts his role in exponentially increasing research funding for the National Institutes of Health. In one of his latest campaign commercials, actor Michael J. Fox praises the senator for championing medical research.

In the commercial, Fox doesn't specifically mention stem-cell research, but as a Parkinson's Disease sufferer, he most likely approves of the senator's position on that issue.

7. Gave as much to Specter as he did to Kerry ...
and is the lone republican on that list. There is some kind trade off going on here. Specter is slick.

9. I understand - to a point....
My problem is that it seems that Specter is willing to sell out. Fox can "like" his position, without having to endorse him explicitly, especially against a candidate who also supports stem cell research, but who wouldn't be as high up if he were to be elected. It is just incredibly opportunistic (on both sides) in my opinion. I do not trust Specter.

11. Except when he's in a close re-election race, Specter is a
moderate Rethug. That's why the Rethugs were trying to get him voted out in the primary to the ultra-conservative Toomey.

Specter has standing in the Senate, and he's pro-choice and pro-science ... that's why Fox likes him, I guess.

I've gotta say ... I wasn't surprised that, not too long after the Anita Hill debacle, Specter was found to have a (non-cancerous) brain tumor! He sure was acting weird (he periodically sells his soul to the conservatives for periods of time).
