OMG: New Poll Shows Spector and Toomey in Dead Heat
This is turning into a real barn-burner, folks. Don't be surprised to see the vote counting going on until early Wednesday morning!
**********************************************************************
SurveyUSA: Specter 48 - Toomey 48

The final poll issued prior to election day shows Pat Toomey and Arlen Specter tied 48-48. The poll shows Specter had peaked on April 20th while Toomey's support continues to rise. The poll was conducted for KDKA, WCAU, and WNEP, and has a margin of error of 4.6%.

1. Will unions show up for Specter?
That's the question.

4. My guess is that they'll be out in full force
I'm very interested to see what the voting results from Philly and Pittsburgh are when they're counted.

2. I'm starting to wonder if it's a bad thing for Specter to lose.
After all, the Yahoos here voted for that psycho Santorum, why wouldn't they want another one? Toomey is even more insane than Santorum, that would be really bad.

7. That's why Santorum endorsed Specter over Toomey

There's only room for one nutbar representing The Keystone State in the Senate, and Rick "Man on Dog" Santorum doesn't want competition. ;-)

11. one psycho is one too many
our next Senator will be liberal Joe Hoeffel and in two years we'll probably have moderate Barb Hafer too.

Hopefully, no more right wingers in PA ever again!

12. The Republican machine is behind Specter
Toomey's support is mostly grass-roots. The Republican machine usually wins in these types of situations so we'll have Specter vs. Hoeffel in November.

5. I can't wait to go to the old fire hall in the morning...
...to see which of my neighbors is being a good rePub and standing there giving out the Specter nail files, and which of my neighbors is being a good rePub and giving out the Toomey matchbooks.

It will take all my reserve not to try to provoke a discussion about which is the better rePub. I believe it might begin with something like... Holier than thou?

And it will help Kerry in November.
As they say in Chicago, Vote early and often,
even if you are in a coffin.

10. I'm conflicted
If Specter wins a lot of the conservative base might stay either stay home, or vote for Bush and abstain from the senate vote. Many Spector voters might split their ticket and end up voting for Kerry.
If Toomey wins his base will strongly come out for him and Bush. On the other hand it now makes it a lot harder for Bush to campaign here since he did endorse Specter, and Hoeffel has a much better chance. However, I wouldn't put it past PA to elect two rightwingers to the Senate. At this point there are pros and cons for each of them.
