Heads up Pa voters. If you have moved recently |
|
make sure that you have been taken off the voter rolls in your previous precinct.
I bought a condo in Montco in July, and changed my voter registration. I, stupidly assumed , I would be automatically removed from the Bucks County voter rolls.
Wrong. I received a call at my former residence telling me I needed to Vote in Bucks or my vote wouldn't count. My old roommate, who took the call, doesn't remember who actually called, but he managed to get the message right. I called the voter registration offices in both Bucks and Montco ,The Bucks people told I might not be able to vote unless I fixed the problem. The Montco people said to vote in Montco and just to make sure I didn't vote in both places.I practically flew down to the Bucks County Courthouse and had my name removed from their lists.
Better to be safe than sorry.

I moved late last year and changed my registration a few months ago - I moved from Montgomery to Berks County.
Should I call Montgomery County then and make sure I'm off the rolls there, and also double check I should vote in Berks County?

2. I think you should definetly call Montco and double check. |

The number is 1 610 278 3280.
The voter form offer 4 choices. 1. First time registration 2. Change of address 3. Change of name 4. Change of party. I checked the box for change of address so I assumed I would be dropped in Bucks. But apparently I was supposed to write a letter notifying Bucks that I was leaving and to drop my name. I went to the courthouse and signed a card certifying I had moved. Funny thing is though, they didn't ask for ID. Anyone could have gone in and had my name removed.
