Why no early voting in PA? |
|
Also, how the hell do they STAFF early voting in other states. We have a horrible time staffing elections out in the 'burbs where I vote and poll-watch. How can they staff a site for an entire week?

Every time I've voted early here in Austin, TX, the polls were staffed by senior citizens. I haven't voted in this election yet, but I'm going to this weekend.

3. We are second only to Florida in number of Seniors!!!! |
|
That is NOT a problem here. I still wonder if the Seniors would be willing to work every day for a week....

Because we value our democracy in PA, and don't want a weeklong opportunity for Republican cheating.
If it were up to me, all early voting would be banned

It would require a change to the State Constitution, which takes at least 2 years to accomplish.

5. Why would early voting help Rethugs? |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 10:14 AM by Patiod
Not challenging you - just interested in the logic.
I'm deeply concerned that we won't be able to handle the volume of voters that will be coming out Nov 2 all in one day. Especially if there are a-holes out there "challenging" the validity of registrations.
Also, what if newly-registered voters leave long lines and go home w/o voting, which I'm sure would please the Rethugs no end.

...at 7AM on november 2nd, i'll be there waiting for the polls to open. that way, i can start the election eve party at our house as soon as i get home from work (and i've already emailed the people coming to the party telling them to vote early, in case the polling places are crowded).

7. Same here - emailed everyone suggesting an AM vote |
|
I'm predicting long lines that will go well past 8.
Between long lines and counting absentee ballots, I can't imagine what time we're going to be able to finalize the vote and get the numbers to relay to the county organization.....

8. but everybody's saying the same thing |

Everybody I know is planning to be there by 7, meaning there'll be hundreds in line at the beginning of the day. I'm being a poll watcher, meaning I'll be voting at 5, possibly all by myself.
