Rick Santorum at the public trough
http://www.postgazette.com/pg/04315/409553.stm
Last week the Penn Hills Progress broke the story. Now the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is quoting a PA Supreme Court ruling that counters Rick's claims. May this story echo around Pennsylvania for the next two years.

Sanatorium is a porker, for sure.

Every Pennsylvanian should know about this. By my calculations, he has given himself a $ ~94,000 raise - courtesy of the taxpayers of Penn Hills, PA.

If someone steals that much through welfare abuse or counterfeit food stamps or ??, think what would happen to them. Probably not a pretty picture.

To a lot of our neighbors, this crook is a God.

4. Would it be so hard to come home on weekends.
I mean...It's not like we're 10 hours away from DC. He's a senator. He could speed the whole way ala Rendell and get home in a couple of hours. Or at least put the home say around Harrisburg, and cut the trip even more.

The fact that he bought a 100k home in Penn Hills and never sits foot in it to maintain residency is a sham.

If we were say Oregon, I'd want my Senator's family to at least live in the state. Force him to come home frequently. I might be more lenient in those cases, but here? To actually live in PA would what....double his commute?

5. This is Bullshit
Something needs to be done about this, he is stealing my communities tax dollars and it pissing me off. I would demand that he lives here for a couple months out of the year (at least) but knowiong Santorum he probably wouldn't want to be seen with the "middle class"

7. complete official information on Ricky's residence
here is the link to the allegheny county website that contains information on Ricky's residence. it gives description, picture, and tax information (paid to county but not for school district and municipality). -

http://www2.county.allegheny.pa.us/RealEstate/General.asp?CurrBloLot=0367G00075000000&HouseNum=111&Street=STEPHENS%20LN&SingleResult=True

this would not be as big an issue except that Ricky ran his first campaign for congress against democrat doug walgren heavily based on walgren "living" in virginia, not in pennsylvania.

we can use this issue, not only for the hypocrisy of feeding from the public trough, but also for doing exactly what he criticized walgren for and used as his springboard to congress.

does anyone have access to quotes from his first congressional campaign or quotes from his ads showing this hypocrisy??

if anyone has new sources, please reply to my post and i will continue to compile the list.

i have contacted the local DFA group in the hopes of organizing a sign campaign. unfortunately, i have no resources but a lot of ideas, including a web site, bumper stickers and...

erecting 4'X 8' signs in high visibility locations in communities around allegheny county saying something like -

SENATOR SANTORUM
DON'T MOVE HERE
WE CAN'T AFFORD YOU

we need to act now. we can't wait two years to start our campaign against santorum. strike while the iron is hot!

if anyone in the pgh area is interested in this please contact me at erd15216@comcast.net

9. PG Report on Santorum in Sunday PG

This house at 111 Stephens Lane in Penn Hills is owned by U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum.

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04319/411623.stm

The Penn Hills School District, which is paying about $38,000 a year for five of U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum's children to attend a cyber charter school, is looking into whether the Republican senator resides in the district.

School board member Erin Vecchio, who is chair of the Democratic party in Penn Hills and lives near a two-bedroom house owned by the Santorums, said, "I live right down the street from the man. He's never there. ... He doesn't live here."

She thinks the district shouldn't have to pay for the Santorum children to attend the Western Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School. It is based in Midland but serves more than 3,100 pupils from nearly 400 school districts statewide who attend via computer.

Under state law, the district in which the pupil resides must pay for each resident who attends a charter school. While the fee varies by district, Penn Hills must pay $7,551 for each pupil.

<snip>

The Santorums use the Penn Hills address for voter registration as do two other people, Bart and Alyssa DeLuca, both 25, according to Allegheny County records.
