Mike Mussina: A Proud Pennsylvanian Gives Something Back

The Mike Mussina Foundation was established in 2000 to benefit children and children's charities. In 2003, the foundation began awarding scholarships to a graduating senior from each of 12 Pennsylvania-area high schools.

The foundation awards $1,000 scholarships to one graduating senior from each of the 12 high schools in Lycoming County, Pa., including both public and private institutions. Each student receives $1,000 a year for up to four years, as long as they stay in good academic standing.

Mussina has also teamed with Wolfgang Candy Company, based in York, Pa., to produce a candy bar in support of his foundation. The chocolate/peanut butter "Moose Bar" features a photo of Mussina in action on the wrapper.

"Because of my strong ties to Pennsylvania, Wolfgang Candy seemed like an ideal partner for this project," said Mussina. "I grew up in Pennsylvania and still come home as often as possible during the season. Working with a local company to help change the lives of kids across the state seemed like a perfect opportunity to give something back."
