senate majority leader FRIST to the rescue (of santorum)
Edited on Thu Dec-02-04 04:50 AM by corporatemedia
Pgh Post-Gazette letters-to-editor 12/2/04

Santorum is fulfilling his roles as a father and a leader

I understand some have recently questioned the residency of my colleague Sen. Rick Santorum. I believe this to be both unjust and unfair.
<snip>
Sen. Santorum moved his family closer to his work in Washington, D.C., because he wanted to be a father for his children as well as a leader for Pennsylvania.

WILLIAM H. FRIST, M.D.
Majority Leader
U.S. Senate
Washington, D.C.

6. I might have to work ....
ironically around the corner from Heinz Hall. But if not (I'm on call) I'll be there. If I do have to work (waiting tables), you should stop in for a bite post rally.

8. Let's just say ...
we grill a mean steak. If it was a mom-n-pop kinda place, I'd gladly plug 'em - but since I sling over priced meat to expense account suits, I can't say. Um ... NOT Ruth's Chris. Starts with an "M". Hopefully I can be there with ... I work 6 days a week, I can use a day off. :hi:

9. well, if over priced is the fare , we probably won't be there...
but do hope you can make it.

i don't think there will be many more visibility events until spring but the fight will continue.

On Thanksgiving day I put up a 4' X 4' sign along the trolley line in Mt. Lebanon with great visibility for the PAT passengers.

In the spirit of the holidays it says -

YES VIRGINIA,
THERE IS A SANTORUM.
HE IS YOUR SENATOR.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Yes - sadly, the restaurant is ridiculous in price. That is what makes it hard to leave. I'll keep in touch.

11. it's on the west side of the tracks in Mt. Lebo.....
which means if you are heading south (towards sh village) sit on the "passenger side" (opposite of driver side) of the trolley car.

it's right at the Poplar station.

4. His property taxes should be raised now also.
It turns out that when Penn Hills recently did an inspection of Santorum's house because he never got the required occupancy permit, that the house had THREE bedrooms, not the two listed in the tax roll property description. This error would have resulted in a lower estimate of property value for tax estimates.

Frist does what politicians are famous for ----distract from the main issue by pointing at something else. I don't care where Santorum raises or schools his huge family - but I do care that he sticks a struggling school district for the expense when he legally is not a resident there.

12. Two big points here...
One, even the good kitty doctor completely misses the point. Yes, the realities of the "hard work" that is senatoring keeps you in Washington all year. But, how many days are they really in session? How many more days than the House are they in session? If it is that much harder to be a Senator, why even try?

Santorum ripped off the taxpayers of Penn Hills, and they deserve full repayment and an apology. In person- at a school board meeting. I doubt the room could be big enough.

Two. The LTTE that a few of the new writers are reacting to called the whistle blower a "partisan hack", who, because of the coincidence of her Turnpike job, also made some derisive comments about that, as well.

That bozo sure knows how to make friends. He must have taken "compassionate conservative" lessons from *. It appears that the only ideology that a lot of people know is blindly following and defending the people someone tells them to.

This is a scary thing. When more people stop thinking for themselves, we are in trouble, indeed.

Thanks a lot to corporatemedia for keeping this going. I wish I could be there tonight - a bit too far for my schedule.

13. You're quite welcome...and thank you
(and also RamboLiberal) for all the help you've given both in compiling the links and making this issue big.

And it will get BIGGER! The best is yet to come!

Hopefully, we'll meet up at some other event somewhere down the road. This will be the last outdoor visibility I do until Spring. I'll be active, but it's time to move indoors. This aint Florida.

After tonights visibility, I'm having a few beers (somethng I rarely do anymore) and then going to step away from CYBERGATE for a few days (well 1 or 2 anyway). I have gotten the ball rolling. And this IS a SNOWBALL rolling on the ground in winter time. We know how they grow!

By the way, if Ricky wants his family to be closer to his work, why doesn't he live in D.C.? Hmmm? I know Loudon County VA and I know D.C. (I lived in between for 2 years -> Fairfax County.) He wastes a lot of valuable family time commuting into the District.

You know, it wasn't until after I re-read the letter from Frist that I realized what it really is. I've written these myself for my children. It is an - ABSENCE EXCUSE.

TO THE PEOPLE OF PENNSYLVANIA:

Please excuse Ricky for his absence from Pennsylvania. Ricky has more important things that have to be done in Virginia. Since everyone knows that Virginia is a much better place to raise children than Pennsylvania, I'm sure you'll agree that Ricky's absence should be excused.

Dr. Bill
Ricky's(acting)Daddy
