Santorum in cross hairs for 2006 election
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05017/443573.stm

On a rainy evening last week, Sen. Rick Santorum went to St. Paul's Seminary to deliver a lecture titled, "Taking the Heat.''

His topic echoed President Harry Truman's admonition to fellow politicians, "If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.'' In the course of about an hour, Santorum demonstrated that he is comfortable with the heat -- indeed, happy to turn it up a few degrees.

That may be a good thing, for in a little more than a year, Santorum will be at the center of what promises to be the most watched, and potentially most expensive Senate race in the nation.

Santorum, who holds the No. 3 leadership post in the Senate GOP caucus, will be the highest-ranking Republican running for re-election in 2006. He is at the top of the target list for national Democrats and for liberal groups who brought unprecedented independent activity and fund-raising to the 2004 presidential race.

He sure looks sanctimonious in this pic.

8. I was talking to a big Rick Santorum fan the other day and...
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 09:47 AM by nickshepDEM
he says the only Democrat he is worried about is Casey but he isnt that worried because he doesnt think he is going to run. He openly admits that Casey would probably defeat Santorum. He also said, even if Casey wins he wont be very upset becasue Casey is pro-life and fairly conservative. On the other hand he says, Santorum will crush any other opponent including Joe Hoeffel and Chris Heinz.

I personanlly think Santorum should be public enemy number one for Democrats in 2006. He is the GOP's future and they hold high hopes for him. If he is defeated I think it would definitley send a message to Republicans nation wide.

Thoughts?

9. anybody can bring that prick down as long as he/she gets our support
If Casey runs, it will be a ridiculous landslide victory. All the money in the RNC's coffers won't hide the fact that pRick is asshole.

Casey being Catholic and pro-life can help him as long as liberals remember that he is liberal on the issues that count. No one is going to overturn Roe v. Wade, seriously. :eyes:

4. My letter in last week's (1/17) Newsweek
>> http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6800642/site/newsweek/
>> The Missing Senator
>> In "Mr. Right" (Jan. 3) Howard Fineman describes Rick Santorum as "father
>> to six home-schooled children." In my opinion, there is more to the
>> story. Senator Santorum recently came under criticism for having Penn
>> Hills, the relatively poor Pennsylvania school district where his $87,000
>> voting residence is located, pay more than $100,000 for his children's
>> cyber-education according to Pennsylvania state education laws, even
>> though the senator and his family live most of the time in a $757,000
>> Virginia house and rent out the Pennsylvania house. The Pennsylvania
>> State Supreme Court has ruled that, for education purposes, residence is
>> determined by where the child lays his or her head at night. The Santorum
>> children don't appear to qualify for this subsidy. When a local newspaper
>> pointed out this anomaly and others followed its lead, the senator
>> withdrew his children from the cyberschool, said that henceforth they'd
>> be home-schooled, and so far has not offered to repay the school
>> district. Then he had to return "home" in November to serve jury duty
>> after delaying it several times. Pennsylvania voters have come to believe
>> this senator represents Virginia, not us.

10. good letter
It's important that people know that.

I know people who rent a cheap residence in a good public school district so their kids can go there. But they still live in PA. Santorum doing this bullshit from Virginia is morally wrong and illegal. pRick's excuse is that the VA house is for his duties in Washington.

I say we relieve him of his duties. He's done enough.

I didn't realize he was such an important idiot until I saw his nastylook right behind shrub on the podium today. And no, I didn't watch any of the crap that was on TV the whold damn day! You couldn't escape the clips that everybody was airing though. Even Jon showed several on the Daily Show tonight.

I son't live in Pa. anymore, but I want to see Santorum GONE!

BTW, what's happening with Penn Hills getting their money back for what they paid for his kids to go to cyber school?

12. More fuel to the fire
Santorum's guide to ruining social security

http://rawstory.rawprint.com/105/social_security_1.php

It's the RNC playbook sponsored by this "senator". If you read it the gist is we're too dumb to comprehend and we have to be spoken down to and that by framing the debate they can get the idea across it is good for us.

on the flip side it could be a good ol "trojan horse" used to ruffle our feathers so they get a while longer to frame the debate.

I would highly recommend to write Santorum and let him know you don't appreciate his wording and methodology and for someone who is supposed to represent his state this sounds like an Agenda.
