3. What a line up!
This will really be a decent event, I hope we can get a really HUGE turnout! I am attempting to shame all my old friends who haven't demonstrated since the 60s into getting out. It's like riding a bicycle...

4. The line up
You know I love Jackie Goodman for what she's done on the City Council, but honestly, when she speaks I can actually feel my metabolism slow down.

5. Jackie isn't a real exciting speaker but she stands up
If it wasn't for Jackie we never would have gotten the patriot-act free zone here in Austin. Jackie was very crucial in that vote. I would rather listen to Jackie than Daryl Slusher, who's monotone does put some people to sleep.

Andrew Bucknell who I heard speak at the SAD meeting reminded me a lot of Daryl Slusher. I liked Andrew a lot, and I hope he keeps up this enthusiasm for politics and continues to run for office. I know he has the right stuff.

Tentative plans are for breakfast, then meeting up at city hall for the speakers. Where should we meet first?

11. GOPisEvil we appoint you main contact for the DU tribe
You got the cell phone man, and you know everybody's contact number. I say we coordinate around you for people coming out of town for the day only. If that's OK, then out of towner's should PM you for your phone number.

We should do our usual breakfast at Curra's North. Time to be decided by the weary, sleepless SxSW attendees. Think you can make 10 a.m.?

That still gives us time for those interested in meeting at the Federal building for the march. Otherwise we'll just meet up at City Hall.

There is a nice little link to United for Peace and Justice calendar that lists all the Texas Events across the state for this march.

Not that we don't want to see you, but that is a long drive for you. If you can't make it here, we know you're with us in spirit and we're with you too.

13. well
there's nothing listed for san antonio & my friend in corpus hasn't heard anything, so i guess i'll be headed up I 35 on friday. :) i wanna protest, dammit & everytime someone does a local "protest," it gets turned around into something else & doesn't resemble a protest at all. (long story)

i'll send y'all a pm when i get details on my hotel, etc.

14. Wolverine while we love for you to come to Austin
It does seem that there is an action in San Antonio. This was on the SD-25 list:

Saturday, March 19, 2005, 2:30pm
MEET @ East Commerce St across from River Center Mall
MARCH TO RALLY @ Plaza de las Islas / Main Plaza
(on Commerce St, across from San Fernando Cathedral)

Please join us in the streets to protest the continued occupation and destruction of Iraq. March 19 marks the 2nd anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq, and since then countless numbers of Iraqi civilians have died and over 1500 American soldiers have lost their lives. We must end this war, bring our troops home, and begin the effort to rebuild our communities. We will begin (2:30pm) at East Commerce St across from River Center Mall and march to the Plaza de las Islas (Main Plaza) for a peace rally and demonstration featuring speeches, songs, and performances by many community activists.

For more info on the local action, to help spread the word, or to volunteer, contact Stefanie Collins at princessleiaorgana21@yahoo.com or at 210-534-6638.

16. Wonderful Trailrider1951
But the tie-dye T-shirt is not going to make you stand out. Plenty of tie-dye here in Austin. In fact I'll be wearing my tie-dye peace symbol T-shirt. Be sure to PM GOPisEvil to exchange phone numbers. He'll have his cell phone with him.

Look forward to meeting you.

So, I PMed GOPisEvil, but I don't think he's checked his inbox yet. Are you all meeting up before or after??? Where will you all be (is there a place we can meet up at the Federal Building?) so we can find you? We're hitting 6th Street on Saturday night (Esther's Follies & Dueling Piano Bar), the invitation is open to anyone that wants to join us!! Come on, we don't get down to Austin very often, let's have a great time!!

If he doesn't respond today. Good luck with 6th street on Saturday. It's going to be crazy with SxSW people. Esther's Follies is always fun but make sure you buy your tickets in advance.

Plans are to have breakfast first then head out to the rally. I'm sending you my info by PM. Check your box aQuArius.

Incidentally the chart, above, shows 1:00 but the URL shows 12:30, does it matter?

22. The latest greatest info from AAW says 12:30
I think the flier was done first and it's been changed. All street parking is free on the weekends, the problem is finding any. SxSW is in town and even during the day there will be parking problems.

My recommendation is to park closer to the City Hall location (Cesar Chavez, between Lavaca and Guadalupe) That area of downtown is what we call the warehouse district. Then maybe catch a dillo to the federal building (9th & San Jacinto). Try parking around Republic Square Park
5th & Guadalupe. That's free if you can get one of those spots. Or the parking lots around 4th and Guadalupe.

Maybe the 420 Dillo route will be your best bet. You still have
to walk over to 2nd & Trinity to catch it, and it only takes you to 8th street and Brazos, but that's pretty close.

We've been all talk and no action (other than writing a few checks and volunteering in Patrick Rose's campaign) for too long!

I'll be wearing a Marine mom T-shirt with a DU bumper sticker on the back. Hope to find y'all and say hi! :hi:

29. A Late withdrawl....
So, I thought it was just allergies yesterday, but today when I woke-up my throat was on fire and now I'm coughing-up green phlem. Yes, I am very sick. I have changed our Hotel reservation to April 2nd so hopefully we can do a DU meet-up that weekend. For today, we will stay in Ft. Worth and find an anti-war protest here and take it easy. I am so sorry... I will call GOPisEvil and sonias later this morning in case you don't see this message. We're disappointed, but I don't think I'm up to the long drive and then the protest and then 6th Street tonight. Have fun y'all!
