Keel won't run for reelection

Leaves open seat in HD47
This afternoon, Rep. Terry Keel (R-Austin) told reporters, "I am here today to announce my intentions for the 2006 election cycle.

:woohoo:
We can and we will win District 47 in 2006 if I have to run for the damn seat myself.

And while we're at it, let's crush Terry's judicial ambitions too.

In 2004, Richard McCain handily beat Keel's little brother for constable.

2. Go for it!
If you have the "cred" run! Might even give you a little phone bank help. My vested interest is getting Todd Baxter out.

3. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Terry.
Not only are we picking up this seat, 2006 is when we finally rid ourselves of the scourge of Todd Baxter.

5. Chicken Road Keel
Terry just knew we were going to take his ass out.

OK NoPasaran, we have you on record as running for that seat if no one else comes forward. Woo Hoo!!

Hello all from D.C. I went and visited Lloyd's office today. He has nice digs compared to Lamar Smith if that makes any of us feel better. Not! I'd rather have my Congressman back!

7. There is another person he may run as well
I might not be at liberty to mention his name here so I will hold off. Suffice it to say, he is a realistic candidate also.

Keel has announced for the appellate court.

8. And from reading Burnt Orange Report
It looks like there may be three or four Democrats considering running for the seat Keel is vacating. In 2004 we couldn't even find a Rhett Smith-quality candidate for that race. What a difference a year (and 80,000 new registered voters) makes!

9. Rhett ran a dynamic campaign, huh?
Which may or may not have been a good thing.

12. Yes with some hard work
We will win that seat back. Kerry and Van Os seats pulled in 46+ percent. It wouldn't take much with some good grassroots organizing to win this one for our Dems.
