E-mail flood follows Perry's gay veteran comments
http://www.statesman.com/metrostate/content/metro/stories/06/14perrystir.html
(snip)
After the signing, a reporter asked Perry how he would tell Texas' gay and lesbian veterans that they can't come home from Iraq and marry.

Perry said, "I'm going to say Texas has made a decision on marriage, and if there's a state with more lenient views than Texas, then maybe that's where they should live."
(/snip)

(snip)
Perry's words brought him a cascade of critical e-mail, with more than 140 notes suggesting that he unnecessarily attacked both gays and veterans in what one writer called "hatespeak."
(/snip)

Three groups — the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, the Lesbian/Gay Rights Lobby of Texas and American Veterans for Equal Rights — said Perry should apologize.

-----------

Ricky "good-hair" Perry is off to a good start. Insert big ass foot in big stupid mouth. If you are a Texan, you can die fighting for your country, but you're not welcome back home if you happen to be gay.

3. Please!
This Texan would much prefer to see Chris Bell as the next Governor. Perhaps that why I am working towards that end. May I suggest you check the respective websites and compare the two?

6. I prefer Bell too, we can't get distracted by Kinky
Kinky is good for comic relief. His slogans are catchy and that's about it. You don't want to follow the California/Schwarzenegger model. It hasn't been pretty. Texas is in enough trouble and Kinky would just make it worse. Besides Kinky is NOT a Democrat.

10. Hey, if Kinky is gonna put Willie Nelson in charge of the Texas Rangers
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 02:15 PM by Zen Democrat
(and not the ball team) then more power to him. He's buddies with Bill Clinton and Laura Bush and millions of others who like to rub elbows with him. Kinky's a fantastic human being -- more than a politician -- a great American -- a rescuer of animals and people, a man with a first rate mind and a delicious sense of humor.

I think Texas will have to go through a transition before another declared Democrat is elected governor. Chris Bell is a good guy, but I doubt he'll garner many Republican votes. Kinky will. Education is first on the Kinkster's agenda -- his motto is "Leave No Teacher Behind."

FYI: Kinky's no fan of Republicans. Or Democrats that act like Republicans. Kinky's an independent's independent. My favorite bumper sticker ....

He Ain't Kinky
He's My Governor

I wouldn't compare Kinky to Ahnold, or Ventura, or anyone else for that matter. He for sure ain't no body-builder or "rassler".

11. I agree with one thing
Kinky will get a lot of Republican votes. Now if Democrats will just vote for OUR candidate, we win and Goodhair is history.

7. I'm planning on working for Chris Bell also
The rethug primary should be an interesting bloodbath, seeing as it'll most likely be Goodhair vs. Bighair. I think Bell has a much better chance against Perry than against Hutchison, though. Perry's already pissed everybody off.

2. So what does Perry's gay lover say about all this?
I'm sure he's a bit disappointed.

4. Funny thing Gman, have you noticed that Connor is MIA
We haven't heard a peep about the whereabouts of a one Geoffrey S. Connor, the rumored better half of that partnership. Connor who was the prior Secretary of State, supposedly has been shipped off to a state job somewhere off shore promoting trade or something. You know out of sight, out of mind.

9. I see this whole thing as being a defense against
any rumors that would come out next year.

Yup, 'ol Connor's been MIA ever since that secret trip to the Bahamas.
