Austin Marines Called To Active Duty

A group of U.S. Marine reservists is getting a big send off in Austin Wednesday. They've been called to active duty to support American military efforts in Iraq.

Approximately 200 Marines from Camp Mabry have been called up. They will be sent to the Marine Corps base at Twenty-nine Palms, California for pre-deployment training before receiving their next assignment.

2. Bush calling up reserves from solid red states.

There was a post over the weekend about calling up reserve unit from one of the Dakotas; now Texas. He's counting on his support being so UNTHINKING in the red states that deaths and injuries to their troops will just generate more flag waving. IMHOP, the GOP will not touch any more swing state reserve units between now and November, if they can at all help it. Only if it's a choice between activating those reserves and tactivating the draft.
