Texas Long-Term Plan to Protect Endangered Wildlife/Habitat

For a long time, I have been lamenting with Governor Goodhair the fact that Texas has no long-term land use plan. Mr. Blowdry assured me that everything is fine. However, I see hundreds and hundreds of acres of Harris and Montgomery County forest being clearcut to the dirt for "Friends of Rick Perry" (Bob Perry and his pandering ilk of developers). Here is an opportunity to present a viewpoint of the insanity of this type of "dumb growth."

I got an email from Defenders of Wildlife with the following information:

State officials have been working for years on a strategy to protect threatened species like the lesser prairie chicken and to preserve habitats such as parts of Texas's gulf coast prairies and marshes. Now you have a chance to share your thoughts on the state's long-term plan to protect Texas's animals and wildlife habitat!

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

In July, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will hold a series of public input meetings on their strategy at zoos across the state. Come learn about the department's plan to conserve Texas's rich and diverse wildlife and wildlife habitat and offer your comments at these meetings:

2. We especially need to speak up for our waterways

and beaches. All of the environment is in danger in Texas but we have strong allies in those areas, people the repukes will listen too like
bash fishermen, and wealthy home owners along the coastline.

A certain amount is required for healthy fish and shrimp populations and currently wildlife comes dead last when it comes to water.

3. Are those clearcut acres on public land?

Just thought I'd ask.

There really is nothing hazardous about clearcutting, done in the proper manner (slash and burn techniques can be damaging, but I can't think of any forester who would employ that method here in the states). Clearcutting is also a viable wildlife habitant management tool, because it creates interspersion (again, if done in the proper manner).

Taking two hundred to three thousand acres down to the dirt, and burning everything that can't be sold to the mills. Not much of a wildlife management tool. And it is not a forester who is doing it. It's always a developer.

But don't worry. Rick Perry says everything is just fine. Shortsighted idiotness at its finest.
