Brainstorming: What are you doing in your county to get the vote out?
I'd like to toss out ideas for things like flyers, door to door polls, etc. I'd like to work on going door to door with the list of registered county dems and add them to an email list, find out if anyone needs a ride on election day to vote, etc. We had, in our county, a very low turnout of both Dems and Reps; I believe that if all the dems that are registered actually got out to vote, it would outnumber the reps.

So what types of things are you doing? If you have flyers, or polls, what are you doing to engage people in conversation?

1. We have a small group which is organizing events such as
tomorrow we are going to a busy corner and display signs and Kerry info. I have seen quite a few Kerry bumper stickers and not too many Bush ones so far here in Louisville. There is a lot of work, however, to get Ky. to go for Kerry. We need to all advertise the article here on DU about Bush's Erratic Behavior from WH aides in Capitol Hill Blue. Good stuff for LTTE.

2. At the moment our group is concentrating on visibility and registration
Edited on Fri Jun-04-04 05:50 PM by NoPasaran
A few weeks ago we had an event where people showed up in Kerry T-shirts and made a cicuit of a hike and bike trail.

This week we had a night of Kerry-Oke at a local club. As part of the festivities, a GOP elephant pinata was whacked until it spilled its contents of political buttons and candy.

We've had T-shirts and posters printed and we sell them at events, along with buttons and bumper stickers.

We've also had information tables at bookstores and other places.

A lot of us have been deputized as voter registrars and are always looking to find new voters.

In Williamson County, a group has been doing block walking with good results.

3. Passing out applications for registration
I don't know if it was legal. I just did it when I passed out MoveOn flyers last Friday about the "Day After Tomorrow" movie. I printed the flyers off the Secretary of State's website in English and Spanish and ran them through my printer with the addresses for the Harris County and Montgomery County Clerks printed on the back. I didn't talk much, as folks were anxious to get into the movie. I wish I had had more time to stay and talk after the movie.
