"Smoky Joe" piggy banks
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 09:22 AM by CoolOnion
From my email, a great idea to raise money the candidate who runs against Joe Barton (hopefully Morris Meyer again).

When the pollution level is Red, how much does that cost you and your family? Put that amount into the piggy bank. How much to ease your breathing on an level Orange day? Put it in.

The friend who sent the idea has to take Advair, which comes to $4/day (after insurance) and Nascort ($3/day). My friend adds, "and that's just what it takes to stay out of the hospital, not what constitutes free and open breathing."

If you're in D/FW and anyone in your family is affected by respiratory illness, figure out how much Joe Barton and his filthy campaign contributors are costing you, and put that money into the piggy bank every high pollution day.

Not affected by pollution? Lucky you...for now. What's it worth to you to be able to breath free? Put that amount into the piggy bank every high pollution day, then donate the amount to the candidate who can beat Joe Barton in 2006. If "Smoky Joe" stays in office and keeps giving passes to big polluters, you could be the next person taking drugs just to stay out of the hospital.

My friend suggests a donation of .05-1.00 for level Orange days, .10-2.00 for level Red days. Every little bit helps, and could add up to a nice donation by summer's end!
