that the Republican platform of low taxes on high income and "flatearth" laissez-faire with regard to global trade as well as domestic economic policy has thrown the workingclasses overboard into the sea where they must compete with the lumpen labor of South Asia and Latin America for a limited supply of soggy, wormeaten lifepreservers.

The Democrats have failed to make this clear because too often they supported the exact same trade and economic policies creating an internationalized bourgeoisie and a globalized proletariat.
