edit#2: the Meetup is Weds. the 16th; the Convention Kickoff Reception is Thursday the 17th, so the location of the Meetup is still up for determination. ;)

I'll be a convention volunteer most of the time during the weekend, so a night early sounds fine.

If you don't get enough signed on, at the meetup site, will you post an update here so we can still do it? Meetup declares early, like in the next day or so. We can do it unofficially if we just know where.

I'll keep tabs on the topic. Since I'm new, it seems I don't have e-mail privledges yet, but I assume my e-mail is available to you, if you need it. Well, heck, it's [e-mail], if you want it.

My husband and I will be at the reception Rodney and Chris are having on Friday. My husband is a precinct committee man and we are very active in West Houston Democrates. !!!YES!!!!, there actually ARE lots of us and all the members are decidedly left-leaning.

We also have a guest room and a couple of couches available (as of today), if you know any convention goers who need them.

7. I would like to see the DUers get together

I would like to see the DUers have a get together sometime during the convention.

Wednesday would be OK with me but Thursday would probably be a better time for the out of towners who will be coming to the convention. Many of them may not be here until Thursday.

We could meet Thursday afternoon before the reception. The reception doesn't start until 7 p.m.

But I will be there when ever.

i hadn't planned on going to houston until friday, but john mentioned the consumer caucus at 9 that day, so i'll be headed to houston on thursday. since i haven't heard from my brother, i'm running on the presumption that i will be free thurs. evening. i don't have tickets to the kickoff reception, so won't go to that, but if someone wants to meet for dinner before or something after, i'd like to participate.

Since the Meetup Weds. night did not make, let's gather at the Kickoff Reception Thursday night. Unless tickets are required and unavailable, or if it is for delegates only, in which case I and the lovely Mrs. Dittie can get with you afterward, say about 8-8:30pm at the Hyatt Regency's lobby bar. If anyone's hungry we can sally forth in search of food.

I'll be wearing a nametag with DU and PDittie on it, and one of my Bush-bashing t-shirts, probably the one with the pictures in my sig line.

10. Ideas/bad ideas for DU meeting.

I am assuming you want ALL DUers to meet, not just locals.
If so, the out of towners will be coming Thursday, maybe friday morning.

Thursday reception is $50 or $35 for TDP sustaining members. It is a GREAT event, but might not be the "right" event to do.

You are more than welcome to meet at my caucus at 9:00 am!

Or breakfast Friday morning at the Hilton? Someone hold a sign up identifying yourself as DUers.
