Hey everyone in North Texas, Guy James is coming to town and going |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 03:15 PM by anarchy1999
to Crawford. He is flying into DFW on Friday afternoon and spending the night in Dallas and then traveling to Crawford on Saturday and will broadcast live from Crawford on Saturday evening live.
I spoke with him this afternoon and he'd love to have a DU meet up with all of us on Friday evening. Who's in?
Oh and by the way Will Pitt and the truthout.org group will be in Crawford tomorrow!

1. That's great news anarchy1999 |
|
I hope you can get a good group there to have a DU meetup to send Guy James off to do his great show from Crawford.
I might be able to make a weekend trip to Crawford but I was also hoping to go for a bit tomorrow. I can't stay for Thursday though.
Have a good meetup!

Work, work, work for me. My only day off is Sunday, and it's impossible for me to get off this weekend to go down.
Good Luck to those that do get to make it to Crawford. :)

6. Tammywammy, I am in the same boat; work on Saturday, plus |
|
another committment, otherwise I would be getting up a carpool. But I am giving serious thought to the following weekend.
There is a part of me ( the part that thinks I am still 29 and can run on 3 hrs of sleep a day, coffee and vitamins)that is thinking a run down on Sunday afternoon could be do-able. I know it is only an hour and a half to Waco, so I am thinking about it...but it would be even better if it were a car load...

13. This weekend is just out for me |
|
I don't get off until 6pm on Saturday. I moved last Friday and since I've been working doubles so far this week, my life is still crazy. Sunday is my only day off from work, so I have to use that day for errands.
Maybe I'll be able to make it down next Sunday...
And BTW, I'm only 24 and I can't run on 3 hours sleep, so don't feel bad. :P

If you go, do you think you could take some supplies down with you from me? We sent a big donation in this morning, but I want to do more, since I can't go down and keep vigil.
I'm thinking of a couple cases of water, some cough drops and Dayquil for Cindy, blankets or sleeping bags, and some goodies to eat. Plus some other doo-dads that they mentioned in the other thread.
Let me know, and I can try to give them to you Friday if we meet out somewhere. Otherwise I can come to you before you leave.

10. We should probably try to find out where he's staying... |
|
so he wouldn't have to drive very far from there. Especially if he doesn't know Dallas very well.
Anyone know? FSC

14. Guy's staying close to DFW |
|
There's lots of places. I spoke to him about preferences and he hates seafood anad fowl. He loves spicy foods, so Indian, Tex Mex, Italian - all those are fine with him.

15. Hmmm....I'd help, but I don't know that area very well. |

Anyone have any ideas?
There should be tons of great Indian places out in that area, being near the Hindu Temple an' all.

It's on Beltline off of 183. It's called Pasand. It's a buffet at lunch, and menu order in the evening. Here's a link to the GuideLive review. http://www.guidelive.com/portal/page?_pageid=33,97400&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL&item_id=12598

by Coit and Campbell.
Decent lunch buffet. I go there for my RDA of naan.
I've never been there at night, but sounds good to me. FSC

No beer. That's one main strike against it. On the other hand, they've got ample seating space, and it's pretty comfortable.
Let me keep Pasand in mind.

But there's a Hooter in walking distance. Beer there is reasonably priced. (As long as no one objects to going to Hooters).
Or right there is an On the Border, Chili's and Friday's (I think).

I'll be at Quakecon this weekend, at the Gaylord near there, so I should be able to attend as well.
There are TONS of places around DFW. Finding something he likes should be no problem at all.

19. Here's another idea - Los Lupes (Tex-Mex) |
|
Located on Highway 183, not far from Pasand. Full bar, semiprivate meeting room, etc. Sound good to anybody?

22. Is there a fee for the meeting room? |
|
A quieter room would be probably be good -- we'll want to talk. Could get busy on Friday night. Do we have any idea what time we're talking about? The drive out to Irving is simply brutal in rush hour traffic.

and we wouldn't have to bring our own booze (would we?), which is a plus.
I haven't gotten a chance to see how I do on tequila lately.
Let's check into the room. FSC

Chances are I'll be completely beat after work. I mostly just want to give someone my supplies to take down.

26. Derby's getting bounced back and forth |
|
between the manager and corporate. At Los Lupes, they said that if we don't use the whole room, we don't have to pay a fee. The private room seats 40 people, so we would likely only use half of it.
Danny has to verify it with the manager now. He's supposed to call him back today'. We'll keep you posted.
