6. That was Medea Benjamin?
Dammit, I knew she looked familiar. I would have liked to meet her, if I hadn't been off in la la land there.

Great pictures, no_to_war_economy. Did you see the car down the road that had writing all over it? The owner wrote the names of the war dead on his silver car, in black and white lettering. Its appearance was quite striking. The bizarre thing was that I hitched a ride the Camp by some folks in another vehicle (a van) that was also covered with the names of the war dead.

12. I found out where the car and van came from
TXSharon mentioned in this thread at Kos that they were owned by folks from Peace Action Denton. I got two good pictures of the car, but I don't have hosting for them. Oh well.

13. I want to find out who that guy was
Edited on Sun Aug-14-05 12:56 AM by Carmerian
He said he had been an intelligence analyst. He spoke just before Cindy, and recited a 19th century Russian poem, alternating between Russian and English. Interesting guy.

Edit : yep, that was Ray McGovern.

8. Loved all your pictures...
But please tell me you didn't really shop at The Yellow Rose, did you? And if you dared venture in there where the right wingers nice to you?

Funny thing, the Yellow Rose in Austin is a topless bar.

11. Wonderful pictures!
I am so glad you posted them. I am headed that way on Tuesday, will get to spend Wednesday working at the Peace Center and hopefully get to go see Cindy at Camp Casey. I hope Medea is still there but if not this will still be one of the best trips, I am so excited.

Thanks, those pictures really are great.

14. Don't let anyone tell you there were "a few hundred" of us!
My husband and I drove in from Dallas for the noon rally. Then we caravaned from the rally in Tonkawa Falls Park--a distance of only a few miles--and the trip took at least 45 minutes! You do the math--it was a tremendous show of support for Cindy, not just a "few hundred" as some are reporting in the press.

My husband dropped me off at the camp while he tried to find a place to park (we were warned about the off-limits "triangle"); he drove about a mile down the road and never did find a space, so he picked me up and we went back to the peace house.

We didn't get to meet Cindy, but it was great to be out there with all the veterans groups. I talked to a woman who showed me a picture of her son, currently stationed in Iraq--he sent her an email giving her enthusiastic support for the anti-war rally & told her to pass the word along to all the protesters to "kick Bush's butt!"

We're doing just that! Cindy deserves a Nobel Peace Prize http://crawfordpeace.nfshost.com/node/134 for reviving the anti-war effort!

15. Great pictures ...
They show a lot more people there than the local MSM in Dallas gives the impression are there. Such an outpouring of support must be gratifying to her. Pictures like these give me hope.
