Why does San Antonio need 2 Air America stations? |
|
And both on the FM dial too. Is iyt because they both have signals that are so weak as to not be able to reach the whole metro area? I'd rather see AA get into the Houston market before doubling up on markets that they already have.

1. I visit Corpus Christi alot, and it seems like we only have |
|
half a ARR station here. They switch to some sort of local sports programming at 7pm, so they don't get Mike Malloy or much of Majority Report. Not only that, there is some sort or weird belching sound, like a flutery honk, every 90 seconds or so, and it is over their voices, so it is possible to miss the context of thier speech occasionally.
I live between Houston, SA and CC, yet the best ARR reception I get is from Austin, 1600 am versus the 92.5 FM. What is the new location for the second station in SA?
BTW, I'm in CC now and I'll be listening tonight via internet stream.

2. I have seen temporary brdcast on two stations |
|
reasons unknown.
I have seen two tv stations send out the same PBS programs for several hours.
I have seen a preacher rent time on two tv stations simeoultaneously.
Perhaps you are witnessing a temporary thing. Perhaps one guy owns both stations and is checking out some technical matter for a while. It is sadly common now for one guy to own many stations.

5. Mike Malloy comes on after the sports, |
|
was listening a few minutes ago. Majority Report also, but not at the right times. Not perfect, but much better than KTSA/550 out of SA, or that stuff you scrape off the bottom of the septic tank also known as KEYS/1440. I am thankful to have it, even when it "honks", ;-)

6. They do baseball in the evenings |
|
But the Aviators and Hooks seasons are almost over. Unless they are in the playoffs, I think the schedule might return to normal. Now they may air the hockey games or high school football but I am not sure about that.

KRPT is non-AAR talk (except for Springer). The came about because another company in the market held the rights to AAR, so Clear Channel did their own thing.
Their schedule consists of:
6a-8a Doug Stephan’s Good Day USA 8a-11a Jerry Springer 11a-2p Stephanie Miller 2p-5p Ed Schultz 5p-9p Phil Hendrie 9-12a Lionel 12a-3a Alan Colmes 3a-6a Ed Schultz repeat
KTXX is all AAR. Not sure what they're doing during Springer's shift, though.
Both stations have rimshot signals that just graze the San Antonio market.

4. I drove from Houston to San Antonio and back yesterday |
|
and I picked up Air America on 103.1 loud and clear as a bell from about Shiner to S.A. While in San Antonio, it was all interference and static. As soon as I got out of San Antonio it was clear again almost to Schulenberg.
At least people on the highway can hear it!
