I e-mailed my sister in law in Houston to check on my nephew who is in FLorida but i have yet to get a reply. She's usually really quick but I thought i read somewhere about Houston evacuees. ANy info would be great.

1. I think to be on the safe side, the entire city of Houston.....

...should be evacuated. Permanantly. Hurricane or not.

14. Leave off the word smart and you are right
don't knock my town and I don't have a problem. Houston is working hard to organize to help these people in NO. We are accepting them and the kids in the hospitals in NO are coming to Houston as well.

Don't want to hear what this person says about my good town....

16. Then put him on 'ignore'
But if you knew the guy (and noticed the }( and :hide: smileys) you'd realize he was just trying to get a rise out of somebody.

2. We're hot and dry
Edited on Mon Aug-29-05 10:33 AM by Richardo
High pressure keeping Katrina to the east, and the western side of a hurricane is drier and weaker (relatively) anyway.

We're GETTING evacuees here from NOLA, maybe that's what you heard.

4. Not according to my Aunt and Mother
who are in Houstex.

Aunt sez:
"There's a coastal flood watch but it doesn't extend as
far as Houston. Can't tell how much rain and other
storm effects we are ikely to get."

Your S-i-L is probably glued to the tv watching the katrina coverage!

hang in there.

8. Nope.
Actually, it's made for some winds and knocked down the predicted highs by a few degrees.

9. The surf's up at Galveston
Other than that, Houston's weather hasn't really been influenced by Katrina. The storm was pretty far from here.

11. Probably what you saw was referring to the evacuees being
here in Houston. They traveled along the I-10 corridor into the Houston area.

I hear they're all over town.

I work in the airport (IAH), and we've seen lots of FEMA and Red Cross folks coming here - because both NO airports are under water.

They fly here and drive to NO.
