Dallas County Democratic Party 2005 Labor Day Picnic (Air America LIVE)
The DCDP had their annual Labor Day Picnic on Monday the 5th on the Texas State Fair grounds at Fair Park. The guest of honor was Louis Rainey, political director for the Louisiana state Democratic Party, who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and wanted to rally support from Texas Democrats for NOLA refugees.

The picnic also played host to KXEB's first live feed for Air America Radio listeners. Here's some pics from the event.

DCDP Chair Darlene Ewing welcomes everyone to the picnic:

Take a look, Republicans: If Dallas County isn't blue yet, it's pretty damn close...

...and they're organizing some 60 candidates to run for local, state, and Federal office:

Someone for KXEB addresses the crowd:

And finally, the live feed! Someone from Stonewall Democrats is promoting, among other things, the No Nonsense in November voter initiative:

1. I had trouble hearing people at the mike
I thought I heard someone at the microphone say that there's a Democratic candidate for Congressional 32. I asked around, and no one seemed to know anything about it, though some of the Stonewall folks said they think they heard the same thing, too. Anyone know for sure? If no one comes forward, I'm ready to run a damned ficus tree against Pete Sessions.

2. I hear you
The Food & Fiber Pavillion doesn't have the best acoustics for something like the DCDP Labor Day Picnic. It's a great spot to meet up with everyone, but we could use a better PA system.

No word on District 32 on my end, either. I hope so. I halfway suggested to Gary Page yesterday that he might try a run at it, but I think he really wants to go after Kenny Marchant again.
