Austin SPCA Needs help
http://www.austinspca.com/
Austin Humane Society's Pet Hurricane Hotline
The Austin Humane Society (AHS) has set up a hotline to help Hurricane Katrina evacuees moving to Austin find care and placement and supplies for their family pets. Evacuees dialing 512-646-PETS (7387) will be able to receive aid in placing pets in a foster home or supplies. Additionally, Austinites can sign up to volunteer for the phone bank and become foster parents or register supplies/services you are willing to provide. AHS is undertaking this effort in partnership with the City of Austin Town Lake Animal Center and the ASPCA to staff animal emergency shelters in Austin as the need arises.
What: The Austin Humane Society Pet Hurricane Hotline and Disaster Relief Efforts for Animals in conjunction with ASPCA, the City of Austin Town Lake Animal Center, and TVMA (Texas Veterinary Medical Association)
Where: 124 West Anderson Lane, Austin TX 78752
When: 7 days a week
Time: 8am - 7pm CST

Other rescue organizations are helping the ASPCA coordinate:

I myself am considering a cat or dog, I can't host people in my 1 bedroom, but have some nice accomadating cats and a dog.

1. Here's another in Austin area...
I'm not sure if they are taking any from the hurricane zone, but it's very possible.

My mom got her Pekingese mix, Scarlett, from here.

I guess its a good way to help for people who have small homes and love animals.

BUt I am sure most rescue organizations will pitch in.
