Houston DUers: I'm coming in from Denver on Sunday. Mini-meet-up, Anyone?

For those of you who don't know, I'm coming down to give an RV to a family and stay a few days to work with evacuees as a Red Cross Volunteer.

I was expecting to leave Denver today and get into town on Saturday. But my trip has been delayed one day so it now looks like I'll be rolling in on Sunday the 11th. I think I'll be staying until the 16th. I'm wondering if anyone would be available some night, M-Th, for a mini-meet-up, dinner and/or drinks.

You've all been so helpful to me. :grouphug: I want to meet you all! What do you say?

I'm so intrigued by this turn of events! What kind of music? Will there be alcohol and food involved? How much does it cost?

7. All I know is I'm a 25-minute car ride

to the Astrodome, and 15 minutes from First Unitarian Universalist Church. I've never been to Houston, so :shrug:

BTW, how's the public transportation in Houston? I'll be a 25-minute car ride away form where I need to be, but I'll have no car to use.

8. The public transportation near the dome is excellent

But getting there depends on where you are in town. 25 minutes from the Dome could be a lot of places. It sounds like you may be downtown, or near it, in which case you'll be in luck.

I don't know many Texans, but one of the few I do know worked for Richardson, and is quite a character. I'll bet partying with progessive Texas Dems would kick ass, plus be a fitting way to meet Texan DUers. And since you offered to pay, johncoby2... I'd be delighted to join you all.

The biggest problem would be that I'd need someone to drive me back to where ever I'm staying. I don't know the exact address yet, so I'd have to get back to you on that part.

I can hook you up with a ride. I live in the Med Center area, which is close to Reliant (Astrodome), and we all need to organize a carpool down to Clear Lake on Thursday anyway...

11. Sorry, I'd like to go but probably can't

I'm fairly new to this site so I don't know anyone else here from Houston unless it's someone I talk to on texas_kos or someone who goes to the OPD meetings here. However, I would gladly hang out, except that I am generally too busy during the week to do anything. Between work, going to the gym, and running errands, I manage to have no free time during the week until I go to bed.
