Response from Starbucks
Here's what I got today from Starbucks in my email to them about supplying the Astrodome with coffee:

:bounce:

Dear DG,

Starbucks Coffee Company is deeply saddened by the tremendous loss of life and devastation caused by the natural disaster in the U.S. Gulf Coast. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and many others impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

Starbucks is working closely with the American Red Cross relief effort, as well as Emergency Operations Centers and FEMA in the impacted areas. We are donating approximately 30,000 pounds of ground coffee, 235,000 bottles of Ethos water, and 9,600 bottled Tazo® drinks to support them in their endeavors. Additionally, customers can donate to the Emergency Relief Fund, which will benefit the American Red Cross, at Starbucks Company-operated stores and Seattle's Best Coffee company-operated cafes throughout North America. We will continue to evaluate our relief contributions related to Hurricane Katrina, in order to best support those in the impacted communities.

I will definitely forward the news that the shelters in Houston are in need of coffee.

5. Although do they really want all those kids...
running around hyped up on vanilla bean frappucinos?

Just kidding. Starbucks is a good blue company. I'm proud of my $15 a week soy latte habit.

7. Hopefully
enough to make them sit up & take notice.

Obviously, enough of us bugged them that they had to take the time to create a form letter for responding to it.

9. Starbucks is good about donating
They donated coffee to the rescue workers after 9/11 as well.

They're big on giving, but don't always publicize it. It's also a good company to work for (I worked there for 3 years). Good benefits, raises every 6 months, and it's all for even part-timers.
