Not to make light of the situation, but why is it that those who preach righteousness are the ones who seem to get in trouble.

You take your Catholic priests, El Drugbo, Jim Bakker, the list is never ending....

3. I guess for some there is a corresponding peak and trough
The more elevated and moral one publicly claims to be, the more likley you had better watch out. There are dark things hidden from view.

Aimee Semple Mcpherson, the Guru Maharaji, ( 14 year old perfect master? ) ,
and the one who tried to take over a town in Oregon,
Jimmy Swaggert, Scientology, ( in general ) and the Moonies.... its an endless list.
I tend to equate Rush with Father Caughlin of the 30s.
I am glad this Houston demogogue self destructed... there are some things from which you don't recover.

The paradox is that truely spiritual and pious people such as Nelson Mandela, or Ghandi, or Caeser Chavez acted out of a moral courage - and did not have to cash in on their charismatic oratory aimed at deluding troubled people.

2. Not surprising.
Psychotic wrong wing polemicists are largely overcompensating for other psychological problems.

6. hypocrite
The word "republican" is synonymous with the word "hypocrite", plain and simple.

They want to play the "don't do what I do, do what I say" game. The rules never apply to them and neither does the full force of the law.

bastards!

7. It was the wonder-working power of...
Bill Clinton's penis that did him in.

Seriously.

It can make Republicans spontaneously combust with rage.

It is just like what Slim Pickens' song did to the Martians in "Mars Attacks." Their brains explode.

And it is our secret weapon.

Watch how many more times it happens in the coming days, as his book tour hits high gear, and he makes a few appearances with John Kerry...

9. I saw a great post on Atrios blog about the power of the Clenis
Atrios has now named it "Clenis"

Another Clinton Hater Gets Busted
The power of the Clenis was too much for him.

RICHMOND -- Former radio talk show host Jon Matthews pleaded guilty today to a charge of indecency with a child in a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Matthews, 59, who resigned from his position at KSEV-AM 700 last year, was to go to trial June 28 but decided to accept the agreement after rejecting it last week, said Fort Bend County District Attorney John Healey.

-------------

It's our secret weapon. All republicans will bow before the power of the Clenis or have their heads explode.

8. This really creeps me out... I used to listen to his late night
call-in show on KLOL, which was mostly a teen audience, back in high school. I even called in a few times. It's really creepy now, knowing he was advising all those teens, and he was a perv.
