Before Rita hit I checked in with Louisiana forum. Right now only one from the Louisana forum has checked in. Several are in "Non" news spots. Abbeville, New Iberia, etc. Since they are not in the news much I wonder how much help they are getting. If Lake Charles got hit those folks got hammered. Just wondering other then the normal give to the red cross, is there anything we can do for them? Maybe getting the word spread can help them out?

It seemed like they would never make it toward the coast. It looked like if the news did not see it neither did the help. At first when Katrina hit, to me help should have hit the towns closer to the coast. I worked in Louisiana and offshore. I know the area. It is not very high above sea level. Going down roads there, the bayou is barely below the level of the road, and houses. Plus they got hit by the dirty side of the hurricane. And probably some of the hardest winds.
Just after I posted it I see they are getting some news people in there. Hopefully help will get there soon.

3. At this point most people just don't know what they have left. |

The evacuation went pretty well. I live in Baton Rouge and have family and friends and dogs and cats staying until they are able to return to Lake Charles. It will be 48 hours before they can reenter the city to check on their homes. Please send some good thoughts for the people of Louisiana who are yet again having their lives immersed in the murky waters of another hurricane.
