4. Amazing

We went to Lake Austin Friday and met a family of evacuees, and their two little dogs. How they found out about that spot is anyone's guess. They were staying in a shelter, looking forward to returning to Houston. I can imagine.

As the storm tracked east, I felt pretty secure that Austin would be spared. We sure were. No rain. No wind. Nada. The same clear blue skies with puffy white clouds. Beautiful.

I don't own a t.v. but watch a little occasionally at a neighbor's. Yesterday morning I did go over and watch cnn and fox for a little while. I find it amazing that as of last night, the radio news was still telling people not to go home. I don't understand that at all. Of course they will go home. Duh.

Glad you and yours came through. Hope Mrs. Dittie wasn't too lonely in the hotel.

6. Second that, BW
...and we had two apiece last night at Lupe Tortilla :9 after FINALLY getting power back after 4 days. This in the barely-touched NW sector.

7. Dayum, Pard, I'm sorry it took so long for you!
See, there is a benefit from living within a stone's throw of a generating plant!

8. 'Stone's throw'? or 'Extension cord range'?
Either way works. Thanks, pard! :toast:

9. Yep, I'm right off 146 in Bacliff near the power plant...
I'm seldom without power, but they've disturbed my sleep countless times discharging steam in emergency shutdowns. It's all a trade off. :-):toast:
