KXEB 910 am Dallas's Air America Radio movie night & special guests
KXEB 910 am Dallas's Air America Radio
Invites you to movie night and special GUESTS !

Date: October 6th, 2005 Thursday 7:30 pm
Location: FunAsiA theatre 1210 Beltline Road. Richardson, Texas
Tickets are on sale: call 972 889-8000, or visit http://www.funasia.net/ for tickets.
Event web page can be found here: http://snipurl.com/hr6k

Please join us for a screening of the fantastic HBO documentary:
LEFT OF THE DIAL which chronicles the trials and tribulations involved in starting up - and sustaining - a nationwide radio network during a highly charged election year.

LEFT OF THE DIAL chronicles the birth of signature shows such as "The O'Franken Factor" (later renamed "The Al Franken Show"), "The Randi Rhodes Show," "The Majority Report," hosted by Garofalo and Sam Seder, and "Morning Sedition," hosted by Marc Maron. There are bumps along the way. Maron worries about having enough material to get through the week, while Garofalo and Seders jokingly ponder the best way to receive the news if they get fired. http://www.airamericaradio.com/

We are also thrilled and honored to welcome to Dallas, Sheldon and Anita Drobny. The Drobny's are the founders of Air America Radio Network and it's birth is now chronicled in Sheldon's best selling book: Road to Air America: Breaking the Right Wing Stranglehold on our Nation's Airwaves published by SelectBooks Inc.. They will have books available for purchase and will be happy to sign your copy for you! http://www.selectbooks.com/t_road_to_america.html

Also meet Congressman Chris Bell , our Democrat candidate for Governor of Texas.
He was target of the infamous 2003 Republican redistricting effort in the Texas Legislature, and he was defeated in his bid for reelection after his district was redrawn. Not content to stand idly by and stomach the violation of laws and abuse of power that accompanied the redistricting effort, Chris filed a formal ethics complaint against House Majority Leader Tom DeLay in June, 2004, breaking a seven-year "ethics truce" in Congress. http://www.chrisbell.com/

We will also be collecting canned goods for the North Texas Food Bank to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina! http://www.ntxfoodbank.org/

Look forward to seeing all of you there! Thanks, Nancy Cunningham cunningb@flash.net

1. That sounds like a great evening, Nancy!
That's a very good lineup, movie, political candidate, AAR local owners and a canned food drive. Good luck with all the events!

AAR in Austin is starting a Happy Hour once a month too. They start tonight 9/28 at The Paggi House but that's all that's happening tonight. Your event sounds much better.

Have fun and keep getting together.

Sonia

3. Well I’m not going to criticize them
They have been very good to let us use their facility !
I believe the ticket prices are $9 and I understand from the station that the profits are going to be used to have additional movie screenings and speakers ! We are evry excited!

4. Don't get me wrong...
Their site is very good for normal movie purposes and we use it very often for our regular movie-going. But on this particular event, they have these circular links that are driving me nuts and I desperately want to go to the event, but do not want to if it costs too much...

Thanks for the info, by the way :-)

Is this also going to double as a fund raiser for Bell?

5. May not be the best designed site but I'm still jealous
Being a fan of Bollywood films and Hindi movies, I would love to have a FunAsia here in Central Texas.

I think calling for the ticket sales seems to be the best bet.
Tickets are on Sale: Call 972 889 8000

6. I called too, of course...
But it is one of these automated thingies that does not account for these one-of-a-kind events :-(

10. hey there Y Dog: Take the TRE Train
check out their schedule. Ride the train to Union Station, hop a dart train and off you go to Richardson.

A few years ago, I took that very same trip. I can't remember how far the dart train went (I thought that it went pretty close to Richardson), but you might be able to get a ride from someone in that area.
