Liberals at NASA given a day off!
NASA at Houston initiated a Liberal leave policy for hurricane Rita, so I left.

Good to be a liberal!

1. NASA questions:
I was at the El Paso airport on Friday, getting ready to fly home to Wisconsin, when I noticed a cute little two-seater jet with NASA paint on the tail and the name 'Col. Bob Cabana' under the pilot's window. I'm assuming he had evacuated due to Rita's imminent arrival.

1. Is the little jet a 'perk' at NASA when you get to a certain level? I see from his online astronaut bio that he's a Deputy Director of JSC. How many of these are there?

2. Do you know what kind of jet that is? It sure is purdy...

3. Do people call him "Cabana Boy" behind his back? :P

5. I didnt know he had his own plane and....
did he use it to evacuate? I think when you are an astronaut you get a plane for travel to the Cape, but for personal stuff like that?

Interesting.

Cabana boy.......LOL

6. It was probably a T-38 Talon. They use them for training.
NASA uses the Talons for spaceflight proficiency training at Ellington Field, near Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

Who knows why it was in El Paso. One way to make sure aircraft don't get damaged during a storm is to fly them somewhere safe.
