David Harris, Candidate TX CD 6 issues press release |
|
September, 28, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WWW.FOLLOWMETODC.COM TEXAS SCANDAL TWINS JOE BARTON AND TOM DELAY Speaking in response to today's indictment of Tom DeLay, David Harris, candidate for TX CD 6 highlighted Rep. Joe Barton's preference for corporate dollars. "Barton's education was paid for by so many corporate dollars and his Congressional vote is paid for by so many corporate dollars that Joe should be incorporated! The citizens of TX CD 6 deserve better than that." Harris then went on to call on constituents of the district to contact the "non-partisan" PACs to ask if they understood the legacy they were buying into. "Citizens need to realize while they are paying at the pump, that money is cycled right back into Joe's election coffers via the American Gas Association PAC. It is not an accident that Westar paid Barton and DeLay for legislation coming out of the Energy Committee. It is time to return the Congress to a legislative body that represents ALL of its constituents, not just the ones with deep pockets." Rep. Joe Barton Total 2005-2006 campaign contributions from PACs: $60,500 To include money from: American Gas Association Political Action Committee; The (Gaspac) $1000 Union Pacific Corp. Fund For Effective Government $1500 Edison International Pac $3500 (from www.congress.org as of 9/28/05) ********************************************************************* * * * Paid for by FOLLOW ME TO DC, PO Box 1408, Fort Worth, TX 76002 * * * *********************************************************************

1. I am so glad we're getting such good candidates to run! |
|
Remember Joe "Smoky Joe" Barton voted against the Katrina relief emergency funding bill. He needs to go. Come on TX CD 6!

2. I was just asking Kuffner today if |
|
the Dems were going to run someone against this ass.
Harris seems like a great candidate, and a great effort on his behalf will knock out another DeLay-bred fool.

3. We met David and his wife last year |
|
at the Democratic State Convention. He was a speaker at the Clark Caucus. At the time he had just been home from Iraq for about a month and was anticipating a possible redeployment.
He had more than a few of us in tears, talking about the lack of body armor. We asked him if he was going to run for office and he said a lot depended on if he was redeployed. At the time he was working for Morris Meyer for Congress. He and his wife both went to Boston as delegates
His wife (can't think of her name) was one of the "Band of Sisters", a group of wives and mothers of service people who served or were serving in Iraq. They traveled around the country, with General Clark, last fall, speaking for John Kerry and defending him against the Swift boat liars.
I'm just so excited he's running. I can hardly wait for Smoky Joe to call him soft on defense.
